Born in Accra, Ghana, Selasee grew up exposed to the colorful and energetic sounds of Highlife Music. With this exposure Selasee created his own style - a unique blend of Reggae and West African Highlife music. Selasee & The Fafa Family joined us for a live studio session. Local Gold: On a very hot Friday the 13th in June, the Denver-based group Men In Burka stopped by our Denver studios to perform a couple of tunes and share an unreleased track with us. They talked about the origins of their unique sound and the response they have received from audiences locally and Internationally.
Local Gold: Stero-Lion (Vocals), Jeep MacNichol (Percussion), and Ian Anderson (Bass) of The Plates came by our studios to demonstrate their live sound in advance of their first live show at the Lion's Lair on June 26, 2014. The band played 'Best in the Land' and 'Boombox Vibin' from their debut release Punky Reggae.
We had the honor of hosting The Budos Band at our live performance studio. The band came in after a now historic sold out show at the Larimer Lounge and played an incredible set of music. Joel Davis had a chance to catch up with the band and talk about their unique and deadly sound.
