AfterFM - Shawna Sprowls
Shawna Sprowls show archive and podcasts on afterfm.com. I work for the Boulder International Film Festival as Program Manager, helping curate the festival's film offerings, after years working in community radio. I first discovered community radio in Crested Butte in 1996, joining the station as first a volunteer, then as the program director. I primarily hosted late night shows filled with lengthy jam band songs and sets. In 2004 I moved to Carbondale to manage KDNK, broadcasting from Rife to Leadville to Aspen and further expanding my musical horizons. I hosted the Festivarian Express on KDNK--still a staple on their dial. I've been in Boulder, and at KGNU, since 2007 and enjoy programming both the Old Grass Gnu Grass show, where I love mixing the old and the new, exposing listeners to new bands, and the more eclectic Morning Sound Alternative. My MSAs usually contain a little jazz, bluegrass and folk music with a heavy dose of singer-songwriters, neo-soul, honky-tonk and Gospel thrown in for seasoning. I'm listening to a lot of alt-country Americana too..Jason Isbell, Sturgill Simpson, Shovels and Rope...and getting back to the blues with the Tedeschi Trucks Band, Gary Clark Jr. and Marcus King. I’ve also added my voice to the mix of female hosts on After FM's new Ladies First.
