Chris Mohr show archive and podcasts on afterfm.com. Chris Mohr hosts Opera Box and A Classic Monday on Monday evenings on KGNU. He began composing classical music at age ten. His 50s rock musical Ducktails and Bobbysox has been performed in all 50 states, all ten Canadian provinces, ten European countries, and was the last American musical ever to be performed in Iran (in 1979). He also published a book of his piano music and an album, August Light, featuring the Wedding Cantata he wrote for his wife Karen 34 years ago. His opera, From the Realm of the Shadow, was recorded by the National Symphony Orchestra and Choir of Ukraine, released on Naxos Records, and got a workshop performance in Manhattan in 2014. He's working on an e-book called The Grand Unified Theory of Music, which uses a 53-note-to-the-octave template to be able to play hundreds of ancient scales from all around the world in their original tunings. His oratorio, Melodies of the Shoreless Sea, will employ ancient scales as he sets poems from around the world to the musical scales as heard by the poets themselves in their times. He published a national classical music radio magazine, On The Air Magazine, in the 1990s. Chris became a classical radio announcer back in 1978, then announced on KVOD until 2000 and came to KGNU in 2001.
