Biography:
I am a pretty typical KGNU DJ. My first concert as a high-schooler was Todd Rundgren's Utopia at the Toledo (Ohio) Sports Arena, where I also saw an amazing early show by Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, and concerts by Queen, Kansas, and Aerosmith – ahhh, the Midwest in the 70s. Saw the Grateful Dead over 50 times, have been to Telluride Bluegrass many times over the last 25 years, and my passion for live music extends far and wide to this day and hist close to home as I host a house concert series in Denver. My KGNU experience began in 1981 doing jazz shifts and babysitting the board during a radio drama of Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Along the way I've had regular air-shifts at KRCC in Colorado Springs, and KCSU in Fort Collins, and also hosted my own web radio talk show for a time. Back behind the KGNU mic these days you'll hear me on the Morning Sound Alternative playing music that’s typically twang-tinged, Americana-enabled, and roots-infused; a mix of indie, alternative and world music, new and old. Also having fun doing interviews with favorite musicians including Jorma Kaukonen, Frontier Ruckus, Lydia Loveless, and Anders Osborne. I’m grateful to Dave Ashton for training me in the Denver studios near my home, and to George, Evan, Tim, and everyone else at the Mothership in Boulder for support that keeps our shows rolling and community radio alive and kicking.
